Belle of Amherst
I recently had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with a most delightful character from the 1800s…
Do you like Emily Dickinson? Well, then you should go see this amazing one woman play in Seattle, The Belle of Amherst! I recently did my first shoot of a professional actress in character — Maria Glanz as the Belle, Emily Dickinson. Of course I was slightly nervous but Maria made it easy to capture the essence of her character.
Maria is also my husband’s aunt (yes, the last name!) and she is an immensely talented actress, playwright, director, and educator. Last winter was the first time I saw her perform, during Belle’s first run as a production of the Sound Theatre Company. I was truly blown away. Maria has received a deservedly wonderful review from The Seattle Times and so many others. It is by popular demand that Belle is back from August 6th – August 15th at the Center House Theatre, Seattle Center and again from September 24th – October 10th at Centerstage Theatre Arts. You’ll enjoy every moment of it! If you have kids in school, I recommend it even more!
You can also connect with Maria Glanz at Maria’s Blog and @mariaglanz on Twitter.
Maria is also a lover of Polaroid, so I shot a couple with my SX-70 and expired 779 film.
