Pink Weeping Cherry

arboretum blossoms #1

We’ve had Spring for some time now, but it’s nice that the days are getting longer and trees are blossoming everywhere. I shot these pink weeping cherry blossoms (prunus subhirtella rosea ~ yes I got that from the tag on the tree :)) at the Washington Park Arboretum more than a month ago, on a pretty dark evening.

We are so thankful to enjoy many gifts of the Japanese culture in the Pacific Northwest, like these blossoms! and we’re thinking of what they’re going through in Japan right now. I am sure you know of many ways to help Japan, but I have a reminder for locals — there’s a wonderful art sale in Seattle’s International District where numerous artists will be donating their work to benefit Japan. Here are the details, please stop by if you can — Artists for Japan at Kobo at Higo on March 26th & 27th.
